  • Platform History

Testbirds was founded in 2011. In 2015, they led the initial development of the Crowdsourcing Code of Conduct.

  • Business Model

Testbirds does not act as an intermediary matching customers and workers but rather charges customers directly for services and organizes workers themselves. Their website lists prices for frequently used services such as a self-service exploratory bug test with 20 testers (£ 1550) and a self-service usability test with 20 testers (£ 3100).[1]

  • Worker Classification

    Workers are self-employed.

  • Jobs and Clients

The primary jobs offered to crowd workers by Testbirds are bug testing and usability testing.

    Example Clients

1&1 Internet, Würth, Allianz, Audi, CeBIT, Deutsche Bahn, Deutsche Messe, Deutsche Post, Deutsche Telekom, DHL, Die Welt, DM, Gelbe Seiten (German yellow pages), n-tv, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Western Union.

  • Work Process

Workers register their demographic and device information with Testbirds and are notified when a task is available for them. (Tasks are made available to people with the necessary demographic characteristics and devices algorithmically.) Once notified, workers are free to accept or ignore the task.
